A Whisper of Hope is here!
Hi everyone! My name is Reagan Drew and I just published my first book, A Whisper of Hope; Shadows and Smoke Book I. The process has been exhilarating, challenging, fulfilling, and frustrating, but the beauty of the final story emerges through all the chaos and grind.
On the surface, I set out to write a story that is full of action, fantasy worldbuilding, budding romance, and the classic hero’s journey. Yet, at a deeper level, I wanted to challenge the way we view ourselves and our place in the world order as we have come to understand it in the modern context.
At the heart of any great story are great characters who guide us on this journey and serve as reflections for some of our deeper motivations and feelings. I hope you enjoy the fantastical adventures of three seventeen-year-olds, Jackson, Kate, and Desmond, as they enter the mysterious world of the Orders where demons prey on humankind. Can they survive the crucible of the demons, discover the key to mankind’s salvation, and find the courage to do what must be done no matter the cost? I hope you take the journey and discover the answers.
The Shadows and Smoke books will be a four-part series. Look for book II in the winter of 2023.
Finally, no book is ever completed by only the author. I want to acknowledge all the professionals (editing, formatting, and cover design) who made this project a success. Most importantly, I want to acknowledge my family who sacrificed time with me in order to fulfill my dream of creating a professional work of literature.
