History lessons

I haven't read an historical book in yonks until now, when I picked up Elizabeth Fremantle's The Queen's Gambit and I'm loving being transported back into the court of Henry VIII, with its whispering corridors, wary ladies, gossip and beheadings. I also feel like I'm brushing up my rusty history.

Perfect reading in front of a wood burner with a glass of red, waiting for the evenings to get lighter again.

Happy new year!

Virgin waters

No, that's not the title of a new erotica tome, it refers to me writing my first blog for Good Reads.

I can't believe it's taken me this long either.

I'll be jotting down the juicy and less juicy bits about a writer's life - coffee, cake, rising and falling word counts, 'writer's bottom' - and my favourite books. I can't wait to learn all about yours too.

Happy new year!

Very best,

Polly
