Travis Puryear's Blog: Updates From Travis Puryear

April 13, 2023

It's official!

First of all, I want to let you know that my website is up and ready to go. You can find it at travispuryear.com. So, we accepted an offer on our house and we will officially be moving to Kansas in the middle of May! I am so ready for the move and change of scenery and getting back to more of a simple life. Things have been so crazy for me lately, but I am managing. I had a truck that threw a rod in the engine and I have been fighting against the warranty company. Then there was the whole getting the house ready to move and then a good number of showings which we would have to pack up the dogs and leave the house for a while (I am glad that is over with!). Now I will be busy packing up the rest of our stuff and moving to Kansas.
Once I am in Kansas, I plan on taking a course that will show me how to publish my own book (the transparency with my publisher is horrible and have don't have the control that I want) and how to sell them in bulk etc.. It's an expensive course, but my plan is to relaunch Friendly Fire and also release my next book...all self published. That way I have full control over pricing (of which I currently have zero control), and will have absolute, immediate transparency with sales and other vital information that I feel is holding my book's success back right now.
Anyway, that's the update. We now have a target moving date in the middle of May! God is good!

What have I been up to?

Hello everyone! Boy, that is a great question. Glad I thought of it. Hahaha! Anyway, now that I have shown everyone how corny I am, I just wanted to give you some insight into my life right now. I will tell you that being a new author I am learning a ton about stuff that I should have done or known BEFORE I launched my book. That definitely does not help me out. Looks like an uphill battle for me to get hype and spread the word about Friendly Fire. As my personal story in Friendly Fire tells you, I am no stranger to, nor will I shy away from an uphill fight! This is where YOU can help me spread the word about my book and thus spread the story about the approximately 1 Million (the last estimates that I have seen) soldiers that have been injured by the government's mandatory anthrax vaccine program. I would love it if you could join me in this journey!
So, lately I have been doing a lot of training, learning how to promote the book. I have also been working with a marketing team to work on a bunch of stuff for me. That and testing different ads on Facebook and Bookbub. I've stayed busy with that. Of course I can't sit down at the computer for too long without hurting, so I have to pace myself.
I have also been very busy packing. My wife, Lori and my dogs and I are selling our house and moving to Kansas. The house will be listed next month and we will move after it closes (sometime in April most likely). You know, you never realize how much crap you have until you decide to move and have to pack it all up! We'll have to do some touchup painting and other stuff around the house. So, with as crazy as it has been; it's about to get crazier. If you don't hear from me in a while it's because either a) we have been abducted by aliens or b) I am overwhelmed with how busy it is and I need to take a break with some things. Anyway, thanks for reading this!
P.S. Don't be afraid to ask me questions if you have them. God Bless!

Author Website Coming Soon!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that my marketing team is putting together an author website for me along with a book trailer. You will be able to find my website at travispuryear.com. I have reviewed the story board for my book trailer and so far, it looks amazing. I am hopeful that it turns out how I have pictured it in my mind (of course, I may be expecting too much as the book is the story of my life and so I have first-hand experience with the story). You can follow my book's page on Facebook (it is listed under Friendly Fire: The Betrayal of One Soldier by the Government), Instagram @friendlyfirebook, or YouTube under @travispuryear.
I also wanted to let everyone know that I have another book written. The title of the book will be "Would God Forsake America?" I need to polish it up a bit, and I think that I am going to self-publish this book (probably, anyway. Unless I chicken out). The reason for self-publishing is because it is expensive, initially, to publish a book through a publishing company. Authors are responsible for upfront costs and then the publishers don't take any royalties until that money is paid back. At least in my case that is how it worked. Then, authors are still on the hook for all of the marketing of the book. So, I figured, since I'm not made of money, I could cut some of the costs out of the production of the book and focus on marketing. I refuse to sacrifice quality though, so I will still hire an editor, type-setter, and cover design team. That way my book still looks great! Look for my next book somewhere in the fourth quarter of this year. I want to spend time making sure Friendly Fire gets out as far and wide as it can because it is a very important story that must be told.
Anyway, this first post is longer than most will be. I want to keep this short and simple updates to stay connected with you. Thank you so much for your support and God Bless!

Travis Puryear
This will not be a typical blog post as, even though I am full of wisdom and valuable information, I am limited in ability to be on the computer all day. I would rather spend my time writing books and ...more
