"But I'm a pantser!" Good. Me too. Sorta. You have to balance the outline with good ideas as they burble in. When that happens, pounce the idea on your palm and heft it up to the light for a good look at it.

A lot of writers consider every idea as sacred. A new thought blips in and before you know it, they're way off the path wandering around the pasture. Then they have to look at the 10,000 word exploration and very often, have to toss it.

I suspect this is mostly a phenomenon of procrastination.(less)
