All Downhill from Here, Right?

Earlier this week I turned in a manuscript that I began in 1991.
That is so embarrassing to say that I feel I must immediately add that since that time I've also raised two boys, authored and co-authored eight other books, done a bunch of consulting gigs, not gotten divorced, supported my parents in their old age, and taken more or less care of three dogs and a garden.
Meanwhile, though, this book, which now even has a title, "Mothers & Murderers: A True Story of Love, Lies, Obsession -- and Second Chances," has haunted me, sucking up time and nearly destroying a few friendships as I couldn't stop myself from yammering about it. I lost my agent and had to withdraw from my beloved writers' group for two years in part because they couldn't stand to look at yet another rewrite. But I couldn't stop rewriting.
I sent the ms. out way too early to more than a dozen publishers until I got it into good enough shape to be accepted by the very last stop before self-publishing, which I was still reluctant to do. I am so grateful to Wild Blue Press, an innovative hybrid publisher, for giving it a home. More on this saga as it unfolds!
