On the one hand, I am busily working on the sequel to a year in the life, my poetic debut: a to-be-titled upcoming illustrated book of poetry slated for 2023, which includes quite a lot of brainstorming, writing, sketching, storyboarding, and illustrating. On the other hand, I have been in the early stages of a new science-fiction/fantasy novella which I hope to be able to begin submitting for publication at the Writers of the Future foundation later this year. Last year, my previous sci-fi novella came within five spots of being accepted, so I am determined to get it right.(less)

I had been keeping a new kind of journal last year, in which I wrote down one particularly interesting thought for each day (rather than recording what events happened that day, as usual). The result was a little like a real-time mindscape, and by October, I realized that the journal was becoming a story in its own right. Thus, the concept for 'a year in the life' was born: a book of poetry and free verse, both humorous and real, winding along a path of terrifying self-discovery, crippling loneliness, and dogged healing as I fought through molasses; torn between settling for satisfaction and stretching for happiness.(less)

“As it happens, I am trying to walk on stars.
Which I think, personally, is more impressive than trying to walk on water.
It's just simple math.
Stars are pretty far apart, you know.
Anyways, I'll let you know how it goes.”

“be a lover like the sun
sunlit hands stretching over oceans
and i will be the flower that comes alive under your touch
i will be the ship that follows you across the very world”

“This Just In! The Man With No Face Who Lives In The Depths Of Your Closet Is Getting Tired Of Being Blamed For Your Sleep Paralysis. "Your Problems Are Your Own," Says The Faceless Man In Your Closet, "I'm Just Trying To Make An Honest Living Here.”
