Speaking of readers, the last most important first step for an aspiring writer is to very clearly define who you're writing for. If you can nail that down, then you can begin to focus on writing the type of story they want to buy and read. There is so much opportunity out there for people who love to tell great stories. It is hard work - go into it eyes wide open about that and when you get discouraged, lean on your fellow writers.(less)

That horrified me and inspired me to get back to the keyboard and finish the story. Perhaps I could help foresee what was coming in the twenty years to come and help us avoid some of the worst possible scenarios through a powerful story.(less)
