If I'm working on a blog, which I try to do daily, I find that if I start on a subject that is a struggle, it's often because there is a better subject that comes easier. A piece that begins with a struggle (block) often opens if I just keep going. If it's too much of a struggle, I'll drop writing for that morning and do something else. Writing is an option and it needs to be inspiring and creative. Otherwise, it becomes an unproductive labor.(less)

If you actually undertake the task of writing "a book about that" you discover that the inspiration is merely the tip of the iceberg, that there is always much more to that inspiration than you thought. Writing also forces you to give practical context to an inspiration in ways that can be useful to others. Inspiration is the exciting notion that the world really is round. Writing can take us around the world in a way that validates the inspiration. (less)
