Stan Williams is a writer and filmmaker, based in Michigan with occasional forays to Los Angeles and Europe. He is known in the film industry as a story & screenplay consultant and workshop leader due to his book: The Moral Premise: Harnessing Virtue and Vice for Box Office Success that Will Smith calls: “The most powerful tool in my new tool box.” The Wizard Clip story came to him from an ex-pat Filipino and emigrant to Australia who thought the Wizard Clip would make a good movie. Stan agreed, but figured he better write the book first. In their free time, Stan and his wife, Pam, enjoy sailing on the Great Lakes aboard their 41’ ketch, Family Ties. I take my own advice as outlined in The Moral Premise: Harnessing Virtue and Vice for Box Office Success. I claim, and my followers support my claim, that if you follow the guidance of that book, workshops, and blog you will never, ever suffer from writer's block. The objective reason has to do with why you're writing: you must have a moral purpose to it. Next all good writing is about the battle between good and evil, or the struggle between vice and virtue. How is hope bestowed and fear vanquished in the physical realm? Write about that and you're off to a good start. (less)

I get royalty checks, they're just not enough to live on. Perhaps writing is best by being good therapy for what mentally ales you. Jordan Peterson recommends keeping a journal in an effort to give your life purpose. I have journaled in a "prayer diary" for the past 55 years. I'm 75 and still do it. I write every day, for therapy, as I'm doing right now as I answer this question. I want to be productive and contribute to civilization and society. It makes me feel good that I helped someone, somewhere....hopefully...maybe. But it's very hard work.(less)

"Sabriya's Hope" Writing Journal No. 14

I d rather write about writing than write.

I'm well into Act 3 and tasting the end of the first draft.  The closer to the end of an action-oriented story, the more I need graphics for plots, timelines for flashbacks, and maps for geography to keep me organized...or perhaps I should say to keep my characters focused and locally organized.

I'm pretty sure every writer does this to some extent, altho
