Unveiling My Next Thriller: Clues and Character Insights!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have officially started my second thrilleresque book. I’ve got my note-cards ready, my character calendar started, and I’m pretty sure I know what I want to happen within the pages. Now, as any author knows, as the writing progresses, the characters could change things- (If you know, you know).

But that being said, I am excited to get this new work out to you. I don’t want to give too much away. So, for now, I’m going to drop some clues that share the overall vibe of my new novel.

Let’s play a game. Comment below anything you think you’ve figured out about the new book. The person with the most right will get to name a special character in the book! Happy guessing.

RIP Kindle Vella

As I’m sure some of you have heard by now, Amazon made the decision yesterday to end its Kindle Vella program.

We’ve made the difficult decision to wind down Kindle Vella in February 2025. You can continue to purchase tokens until December 4th and redeem them until February 2025 – Amazon

While I personally was never able to find a real audience on KV, it is the platform that encouraged me to keep writing. At the start of the program, small bonuses were paid for simply uploading content to the platform. Whether this is part of the reason the whole thing failed, one can’t be sure, but what I can do is thank them for our time together. I know this hits all authors differently, and for those who have found enough success to rely on their payments, my heart truly goes out to you. As for me, the money I made from KV allowed me to pay for all the things necessary to launch a book in long form, and for that, I will be forever grateful. In the life of an author, nothing is guaranteed, but the fact that we are all out here trying says loads about our character.
There is a quote that says something like, ‘Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback.’ Well wait and see how we all come back. As for now, all I have left to say is thank you and fuck you Kindle Vella, our time together was inspiring and infuriating, and I’m ready to move forward.

Thriller Tuesday🔪

Hey guys, it’s Thriller Tuesday, and that means I’ll be sharing with you something thrilling. Today’s heart-racing topic has to do with a great selection of thrilling reads from lesser-known authors. Don’t get me wrong. I love all the amazing, road-paving, traditionally published thriller authors out there. I think I speak for most of us indie authors when I say you are the reason we do this. Your well-written stories with heart-stopping twists and turns are what inspired us to try like hell to follow in your impressive footsteps. (Gillian Flynn, I am talking to you swoon).

But today is about us little guys. I’ve included at the end of this blog a link to over 140 thriller books written by indie authors. The genres range from crime and murder to psychological. The one thing they have in common, you guessed it- they are all thrilling. Ok, ok, I’m done, but truthfully any support you can give these new authors, me included, means so much to us. It’s not easy to be “discovered” in such a heavily saturated field, and while some of the books out there are meh, others are undiscovered gems. All I’m asking is that you give them a look. Read some of the blurbs, check out the reviews, and if something speaks to you- give it a shot! You might be surprised by what you discover.

Everyone Starts Somewhere

Everyone who has ever been great at something had to start at the beginning at some point. My love for reading began in grade school, the thrill of mystery novels and true crime following as I got older. Pursuing English in college, a definitive stamp on the idea that this was indeed my dream.
I wrote my first “novel” if you will during that time (it’s an unedited mess of completely not my writing style, or genre, or taste, but yes it exists). It took years after that for me to become solid in the person I am, and to begin writing for her. It was only when I stopped writing what I thought people wanted to read (more on this in the future) and began writing for me, that everything clicked.
The Broken Wife, is, in my opinion, my debut novel as an author. Completing it was the first time, in all my firsts that I ever truly felt like an actual author, and the feeling has been incredible. With that first has come many more, and now as I sit here typing my first-ever blog entry, I hope you join me on the journey.
Web design is another first I am experiencing, and to be frank, it’s not one I am partial to, but they say all authors who want to be taken seriously must have a website, so damn it if I’m not here trying. That’s what I want you all to know in this first post. Dreams are a funny thing, but they can never be reached without effort. So here I am, starting and encouraging you to do the same. Follow your passions, people. We only get one life, and it’s our job to completely live the hell out of it.

Challenges in business are a given, but it’s our response to them that defines our trajectory. Looking beyond the immediate obstacle, there lies a realm of opportunity and learning.
