In high school I wanted to be a tennis player. I was on the tennis team, and played at our neighborhood tennis club. Then in college I thought digging dinosaur bones would be a cool job. It wasn’t until I was working at my own public relations agency that I decided I really wanted to write children’s books. I was so inspired by the magic of reading a book that I wanted to see if my active imagination could create magical moments for kids all over the world. Celebrate Quinceañera!

On this title I worked with cultural consultant, Gloria Garcia Diaz. She helped me get the details right and added so much more to the story. I was happy to consult with someone in my community, too so we can share the success of the book together. I also love how the illustrator brought so much color and life to the pages! Thank you, Nathalie Beauvois.

“When what to their
curious eyes should loom,
but a wicked old witch
holding a broom.
Her cape—how it shimmered!
Her face—oh, how scary!
Her hat was so pointy,
it frightened the fairy!
The wicked witch said,
“Welcome. We have a surprise.”
And the children yelled,
“Run! It’s not a disguise!”
Natasha Wing, The Night Before Halloween

“Twas the night before Halloween,
and all through the house,
all the creatures were stirring,
except for the mouse.
The monsters had gathered
to plan and prepare,
for the trick-or-treaters
who soon would be there.”
Natasha Wing, The Night Before Halloween

“Mummies unraveled
and put on new wraps.
Spiders found corners
and spun silky traps.
Count Dracula grinned
and slicked back his hair.
Frankenstein’s bride cried,
“I’ve nothing to wear!”
Natasha Wing, The Night Before Halloween
