A shift from my norm...

Out today, 9Crimes digital magazine released its inaugural issue and features my short Mother Knows Best.
It's a shift as this story is a straight crime tale. For me, it was one of those stories that once finished, I felt like it really worked, all the way through.
Go read it, the issue is only $.99 for those cheapskates and broke-folk,

A thing that was written

A few years ago I wrote a story. It was long enough to fit the novel length category. I'd written two before and threw both (mostly, I recycled an idea later on) in the trash. Truro Trap is a story based loosely on the small town where I grew up.
It is an odd little story from some angles, but from other angles, not so much. A horror-ish, thriller-ish tale of mediocre versus evil.
Truro Trap by S.L. Dixon

This little trunk novel is out of the trunk and fully alive, published by the indie publisher Black Rose, in eBook and Paperback.

Truro Trap

I'm a horrid salesman. I hate sales, years of experience can do that, but here is a link to my stories, which then links on beyond should clicking be an enjoyable practice to you,

Live from South Korea

Out today is Volume #1 Issue #2 of Wolves Magazine and features my short Stewart's Spring.
This one of my favorite shorts that I've written. I fought me for years before I pulled it together and sent it off to the editor of Wolves (Bobby Thompson).
It's a dark tale about a woman and her surviving son bumbling along a hopeless path.

Truro is like any other small town. Folks settle down knowing what to expect from life. They live in bungalows and split-levels. They drive Fords, Hondas and Toyotas. They hope for As on their kids’ report cards, but don’t fuss much over Bs and Cs. Folks work at Truro Furniture and they know better than to ask questions when an accident costs a life now and then.
Folks that don’t accept this life have a way of moving on.
With a job awaiting him and his pride swallowed, Adam Moore returns to the small town of Truro to find things worse than he remembered. Unwilling to kneel in line, Adam finds out the hard way that not all childhood nightmares are fantasy.
Success in Truro has its price and the factory collects on all debts.
