Popti

Something in him recognized a little bit of something in her
something revolting, something delicious
inedible and appetizing
something
savory

a supple and titillating cross between a dead black cat and ink from a bruised heart
something feral
primal

that was supposed to be the primer for their togetherness ;
she smashed that
not with her soft kisses that burnt
that are still burning
but with her popti wings that fell like a hammer on his granite heart
that kept falling

until only a crushed shell of it was left, the bits and pieces
still beating

the little of something in her tempted by the parts of him that still lingered responded ;
making him yearn
corrupting his waking dreams

but she was deaf to the voices of their past
instead
she told him to shut up and get lost

Choosing herself over him
she ate the unicorn's heart by all herself
loving every greasy uncooked bit of it
enjoying all the tiny bites she took

mellowing out
she ate it all

alone

that's how she liked it
the
taste of everything.
