From Northern Nigeria [(b. 1877, d. 1951)], she told her life story in a series of interviews conducted by Mary F. Smith between 1949 and 1950. A gifted storyteller with a remarkable memory, Baba related her experiences from about 1890, before the coming of the British, until after the Second World War.
