Lewis's Letters to Children, which I am finding absolutely endearing and inspiring. It always amazes me that Lewis could be the brilliant man who wrote The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce but also the kind and charming man who wrote those sweet and amusing books for children. This will be my fourth time reading through them. I read all seven when I was 21 (having won them in a writing contest), then read them all again--twice through--when my children were little (one of our fondest memories together). Can't wait to read them again!(less)

Show up every day and love yourself and believe in your work enough to commit to it daily. It doesn't matter whether you write one chapter or one page or simply one sentence every day; be present to attend to the task, shove all the other voices out of your head for a while, and listen to your muse. Every one of us has a unique story to tell. Tell yours!(less)

Frank Herbert
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Frank Herbert, Dune

“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

“The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.”
