Book Award Finalist

The Oklahoma Center for the Book has just announced this year's finalists, and The Secret of Main Street is a Fiction Finalist! 🙌🏾🎉
This means the world to me for two reasons:
1️⃣ I poured my heart into this story, drawing from my family's experiences about a place I knew intimately.
2️⃣ I researched extensively on the history of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre, which is central to my character’s journey.
To be seen and read—that’s every writer’s dream. Thank you to the committee for this incredible honor. Wishing all the other finalists joy and good luck! We write because we love it, awards or no awards, but being recognized feels amazing. Untitled design (2).jpg

Short Historical Fiction to be read in a weekend!

https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%...

I love it when I'm added to a good list. This time, I was a bit torn. A weekend read is a great thing. However, it takes an author over a year to write a book. The least you can ask for is a three or four day reader experience. But I'm happy! A fast read means there were no lulls. Just a grand ole time!

I hope you feel the same when you read The Secret Keeper of Main Street! Happy fast reading day!

Such a lovely review for The Secret Keeper of Main Street

From 8 Books That Should Be in your Beach Bag "Trisha R Thomas is drawing us into another piece of historical fiction that we can’t get enough of. This novel centers on a clairvoyant dressmaker who is welcomed into the confidence of the women she prepares for their life’s big moments. As an intuitive person, she tries to create distance between herself and her patrons, but their stories seep into her life. Keyaira Boone - Hello Beautiful

Interview!

It’s always a pleasure when author Trisha R. Thomas stops by for a chat. Today, she’s discussing her latest release, The Secret Keeper of Main Street.

Tell me about your latest book.
In the quaint town of Mendol, Oklahoma, Bailey Dowery is a Black dressmaker for the wives and daughters of local oil barons. She earns a good living fitting designer gowns and creating custom wedding dresses for the town’s elite. But beyond her needle and thread lies a deeper talent, one passed down from her mother: the gift of insight. With just a fleeting touch or brush against the skin, Bailey has sudden flashes of intuition— witnessing the other person’s hopes, dreams, and nightmares, as well glimpses of their past and future. To protect herself, she wears gloves to keep from grazing the skin of her clients as she pins them into their gowns. Brides have whispered that Bailey can see if their true love is faithful, or if their marriage will be a success. She eventually falls in love herself and tries to see if this man feels the same way about her. She only sees a bright pink light and doesn’t know what it means. Along with that, she’s busy trying to solve a missing person mystery.

San Diego Library Event

Libraries are my happy place. One of my fondest memories of growing up in the library is the sense of calm I felt every time I walked through the doors. The smell of books, the quiet atmosphere, and the rows upon rows of stories waiting to be uncovered made it feel like a treasure hunt. I remember finding a cozy corner by a large window, where the sunlight would pour in, and getting lost in the pages of a new book. The world outside would fade away, and I could sit for hours. It was my sanctuary, a place where stories could carry me away.

June 15th I will be reading and signing The Secret Keeper of Main Street

@San Diego Central Library

Can't wait!
Books, books, and more books!❤️

Fresh Fiction Blog

I had the pleasure of being the Guest host of Fresh Fiction. Top 10 Secret Fears of a New Bride

For many years, I owned a bridal boutique where I designed custom-made dresses in a quaint studio. The serene atmosphere often prompted soul-searching and, consequently, many tears were shed. I’ve been told I have that effect on people. Designing, cutting, sewing, and fittings all occurred in a tranquil environment where I spent most of my time listening. Choosing a dress was an important decision, but there were also many other concerns that sometimes surprised me. I spent so much tie listening, that I learned a great deal about the human spirit, even during what was supposed to be the happiest moment of someone’s life. I learned more than I ever expected and eventually figured out the best advice to allay those fears. Here, I’ll start with the most common and count down to the most surprising.

From Dressmaker to Author

I'm sharing pics https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=... of a day in the life of a bridal dressmaker. Most of you who have known me forever know the story. I grew up with a dad who was a dressmaker and tailor. I learned how to sew before I could pretty much spell c-a-t. I began making gowns for my pageant friends in high school, then on to the bridal world. Yes, I designed and sewed, beginning to end. I had a lot pin pricks in my fingers, which I traded in gladly for keyboard fatigue from writing my novels. Yay!❤️

Like my character Bailey, I was not only a bridal gown specialist, I was the listener, consultant, therapist, handholder, and all around adviser. I did my best anyway. Nothing is more personal than a bride's wedding day. When you read the book, you'll understand.
