Marilyn McFarlane has lived in five cities on the west coast of the USA and has never counted the number of places she's visited as a traveler writer. They cover much of the world. She has written guidebooks and many articles for print and online magazines. Her current book is perhaps the most global of all: Sacred Stories: Wisdom from World Religions. It's a collection of five stories from each of seven different faiths, re-told in direct, clear language children can understand. The book also has brief explanations of the basics of each religion. Marilyn hopes that this book will encourage appreciation of others' beliefs and religious diversity.

My all-time favorite couple takes me back to childhood reading: Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. If you read the Anne of Green Gables series you know what I mean. I adored them. Still do. (less)
