New Book: Betty White On TV
For those looking for a fun read, may I modestly suggest Betty White on TV, detailing the many highlights of Betty White's incredible TV career, starting when she did experimental TV back in 1939? Betty White earned her first Emmy nomination in 1951 and her last sixty-three years later. Her longevity in television earned her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Betty White’s incredible career encompasses seventeen regular roles, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, and Hot in Cleveland. I've devoted individual chapters to her work in each of the series, including a discussion of The Golden Girls' short-lived spinoff, The Golden Palace.
Other chapters include discussions of her work on talk shows, where she started on TV in Los Angeles in 1948; her two 1950s sitcoms, Life with Elizabeth and Date with the Angels; her 1958 variety series and later guest shots on that genre; and her decades of regular and guest shots on game shows, which were so extensive that two chapters are needed to cover them all.
There's also two chapters devoted to her regular and recurring acting jobs between The Golden Palace and Hot in Cleveland. A critical summary of her 100 or do guest acting shots on everything from The Millionaire in 1956 to SpongeBob SquarePants in the 2010s also appears. Wrapping it up is an appendix listing all of her regular, recurring and guest appearances where known by genre.
Including interviews with many who worked with her, Betty White on TV recounts and celebrates the achievements of one of entertainment’s most distinguished and beloved celebrities. Click on the link to get your copy now!
