THE SLITHER QUEEN

THE SLITHER QUEEN: Coming March 10th 2025. You can now preorder the Kindle Edition through Amazon.com.

Rachel was born with the mark of the serpent and as such, can alter into a magnificent beast. Life isn’t easy for a teenager with escalating powers, nor for one with a chip on her shoulder. Rachel’s troubled youth haunts her. When her childhood scar begins to pulsate, Rachel is perplexed as it invokes old terrors. The mystery deepens when an infant hybrid is kidnapped, and the child’s serpent can telepathically take over Rachel’s serpent as it seeks help in protecting the girl. As this serpent wreaks havoc with Rachel’s free will, she is turned into a predator at the whim of another, becoming dangerous to herself and to others.

Rachel must find the missing girl and stop the evil serpents holding her captive. The sect intends to sacrifice the girl to an underground Lord, who is coming for his annual offering. Rachel is hardly equipped to combat the ancient serpent, even with love interest Gabe Richards by her side. With no choice but to face this evil, Rachel’s fate is sealed, but in order to do so, she must become prey, herself. As she becomes a pawn in a wicked snare, her inner serpent is stirred into action. Submission is not an option. Ties to a primitive queen run deep in Rachel’s veins. As Rachel’s human side succumbs to captivity, destiny takes the upper hand. For deep in the earth’s core, she can either lose her humanity forever or unleash her serpent in ultimate reprisal.

KIRKUS REVIEWS

KIRKUS REVIEW
ASYLUM BY TAMERA LAWRENCE ‧ RELEASE DATE: MARCH 10, 2021
A taut psychological thriller set in the eerie remnants of an abandoned asylum.
In 2012,Kyle Hampton leads a happy life with his wife and young daughter, but he's plagued by memories of his childhood in Rose Hill Asylum, where he was born. There, abuse was rampant, and scores of children died over the years before it was shut down 28 years ago. Many years later, he and his best friend, Randy, a fellow former asylum resident, still find themselves drawn back to the closed-down building, which retains its sinister atmosphere. Lawrence paints these visits vividly, and the asylum itself becomes the work's most fully realized locale as the friends' visits become increasingly unsettling. Throughout, the author also successfully intersperses this story with Kyle's troubling recollections—particularly of his encounters with bullies and of the fact that his younger brother, Roy, was not adopted with him; Kyle escaped the brutal asylum, but his sibling didn't, leaving him guilt-ridden. There's an underdeveloped plotline involving Kyle's difficult relationship with his wife, as well. However, Lawrence also takes readers into the mind of a serial killer known as Stitches—a man who haunts the asylum, dressed as a clown, and currently preys upon local women; as the killer slowly makes his existence known to Kyle, a tense cat-and-mouse game plays out. The author manages to keep the villain shrouded in mystery by carefully unveiling his connections to the asylum over the course of the story. Throughout the novel, including in Stitches' horrific monologues, the author presents a searing indictment of the mental health and asylum system in the United States over several decades. Action scenes dominate the work's latter sections, but the novel's strongest aspects are its forbidding atmosphere and its damning depiction of what happens to kids who fall through cracks in the system.
A well-paced and creepy novel with a strong message.

EVANS-MUMBOWER MILL - A TREASURED PAST

EVANS- MUMBOWER MILL http://www.wvwa.org/evans_mill.htm
Old buildings have always fascinated me. So much history can be found within a building's walls. I think about the people that once lived there, the lives they led. I wonder what they did for fun, what their family's were like. How they died.
So...when I discovered that an old mill that once belonged to my great-great grandfather was still intact and was in fact, owned by a historical society,  I couldn't wait to see it.
Abraham Evans built the original Evan's Saw Mill in 1745. The mill was located along the Wissahickon Creek in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Many mills were built along the creek at that time but today they are gone, forgotten. The Evan's Mill was originally powered by a water wheel, then later a steam or gasoline engine. Several owners held it thereafter. The mills supplied power to local industries which made paper, lumber and ground grain. The original Evan's mill was demolished and a new mill built in its place somewhere in the late 18 Century.

Henry Mumbower bought the Evan's Mill in 1858 and it was ran by his  family until around 1930. Henry had a wife named Catherine and eight children. His granddaughter, Grace Mumbower Hicks was my grandmother. She name my father after Henry Mumbower and her other son, David after David Mumbower.

Today the Evans-Mumbower Mill is owned by the Towamencin Historical Society, who have restored the mill to its former glory. Tours and events occur throughout the year. I visited the mill last year and had gotten to see the workings of the mill and how it was powered. It was fascinating.  I tried to imagine my grandfather working in the building. I could almost feel his presence.

I'm looking forward  to the 2013 Halloween season, when the mill will be turned into a Halloween attraction. Stay tuned for further information when the time arises.  I plan on visiting it this year when Ole Henry will rise from his grave and I can finally meet Grandpa Henry face to face.

THE POND - Reader's Favorite 2011 award for best mysteryP...

THE POND - Reader's Favorite 2011 award for best mystery
People will ask me where I get my ideas for my books. Like a lot of writers, my stories have rolled around in my head since childhood. Once I  have written a book, the story disappears from my mind. It no longer connects to me. It might be strange to some folks, but to a fellow writer, I'm sure it makes perfect sense.
But THE POND was created in a different way. The first chapter is based on a real event.
One day, my mother was recounting a story from her youth. This tale involved a poor neighborhood boy, who disappeared one frosty winter. His body was found in a farmer's pond -  not to far from his residence. But the horror of his death came later in the fact that this boy's mother had dropped him off at a friends house for a play date and simply drove away. But the friend, a wealthy family's son, wasn't home. The family had an emergency and had left. A maid answered the boy's knock. She told this boy to go home and shut the door in his face. With no other recourse, this small boy had to walk home and cut across a farmer's field. He crossed over a frozen pond. Or so he thought....
His fate was sealed when the ice cracked.
This story took place in the 1950's when my mother was just a girl. It bother me for days as I thought about the maid and what she had done. She, in fact, had sent the boy to his icy death. Thinking on her reasoning, I came up with this tale and, in the end, a bit of  justice for this boy.
