I can’t remember NOT having a book in my hand. My schoolmates called me a bookworm, and nothing’s changed since then. I was brought up on the children’s classics because my parents are also avid readers. My earliest story-telling talents came to the fore when, from the age of ten, I entertained my three younger brothers and their friends with serialized tales of children undertaking dangerous and exciting exploits, which they survived through courage and ingenuity (of course!). Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and skeletons leaping out of coffins were hot favourites in the cast of characters that populated “Gruesome Gables” where all these adventures were played out. CJ Lyons is a hugely successful hybrid author - self and trad published. http://www.bookseriesinorder.com/c-j-... I am a self published author - after 35 rejection letters for my first MG adventure, now a multi award winning book - and I guess I shall continue that way. Unless of course, some big name publisher makes me an offer I can't refuse. If you want to get your book out there, and find it hard to break into the trad publishing world, then I think one should just go for it as an idie. BUT (big but), one has to make sure that your book is professionally edited, well laid out, with a professional cover. I spend a lot on these 3 important elements. readers are fussy and demand top quality these days.(less)

Both this sword and the London Stone are so shrouded in mystery it could be possible they have been associated in history. The stone itself is venerated and since Arthur is such an iconic figure, I would love to imagine the Stone was important in his time.(less)

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
"Very detail-oriented book with too many character perspectives for my taste. There were unnecessarily many dead bodies that kept showing up all over the place. There was some good dark humor but it wasn’t enough to keep me invested."
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
"It’s pretty rare for me to not finish a book I’ve started but about a quarter of the way in, I gave up. I just wasn’t enjoying it. I like Osman’s tv work, so when I heard that he wrote a novel, my curiosity was piqued. This novel borders on the cozy " Read more of this review »

"It has taken me a long time to read this book and it was only through a deal of self discipline that I continued to read it. I am bewildered by the 4 and 5 star reviews. I found it slow, waffley, lacking in style and just so boring. As for the humour" Read more of this review »

“The end of man is knowledge, but there is one thing he can't know. He can't know whether knowledge will save him or kill him.
