Are you ready for Halloween?

It’s finally Fall in California. We are having cooler days which means I don’t have to turn on the overhead fan at night to fall asleep. And soon, it’ll be Halloween. I don’t know if your part of the country will be trick or treating, but here, we are advised not to. That’s not a mandate, just advice. But the stores are selling mounds of candy and costumes, so I have to assume the children in our area will be celebrating in some fashion.

It’s amazing how we learn to make due during this pandemic. Necessity is the mother of invention, they say. And we’ve certainly had to be inventive and creative to get by these past several months, from schooling at home to birthday parades. We have four grands, ages 5, 5, 8 and 9 and this year, because they won’t be Trick or Treating, I’ll be throwing an at-home Halloween Hunt Brunch.

Instead of searching for eggs ala Easter, the kids will be hunting for candy deposited in and around the house. We may even have a scavenger hunt. And I’ve arranged for them to do some scary cats and bats cookie decorating. Costumes are required. They are excited about this for sure and I’m happy to brighten their Halloween up a little bit.

I have a feeling we’re going to have to get creative come Thanksgiving and Christmas too.
Do you have any creative ideas for the upcoming holidays that you’d like to share?
