I write stories about ordinary people who suddenly find themselves in situations they never imagined—whether that’s a man with only weeks to live deciding to live properly for the first time, or a software developer discovering that ancient magic has survived into the digital age.

My books mix suspense, humour and characters who react much as the rest of us probably would when life takes an unexpected turn.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually thinking about the next story… or wondering what would happen if one impossible thing suddenly became true. I believe every good story begins with a simple “What if…?”

I’ve always loved a great story. From fantasy and science fiction books, such as Harry Harrison’s Stainless Steel Rat series and Terry Pratc

Your wife is right. How else would a family guy find time to write?

So I'm afraid that makes you wrong. The fact of the matter is wizards' cloaks never get dirty. There's something in the material which repels grime, grit and grunge... it's called magic.(less)

Magee’s Bar

Pete McCarthy, travel rules and a challenge for you

Every author needs inspiration. Pete McCarthy was one of many writers who inspired me over the years. His book, McCarthy’s Bar, is fantastically gentle and funny—it grabs you from the first page. It documents his travels along the west coast of Ireland, reminding those who have been what a wonderful journey it is, and making those who haven’t

It's more important for authors to be connected with readers :-)

It's good to have friends!

I hope you do get the chance to read Dark Tidings... I'd love to know if you find reading the book as intriguing as the concept!

I noticed you've got Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett on your read-this-year list... I'm not sure I'd take a chance with that one. It's so flipping good you'll be sucked into Discworld and be forced to read the other trizillion Discworld novels... we won't see you again for a year! You can maybe tell that Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors.

Good luck & best regards, Ken.

Angela Hello Ken, nice to meet you...Thank you for your friend request.
I have to say, I'm intrigued by your books. The concept of "ancient magic meets internet" is one that have actually never heard of and it sounds intriguing.
I like reading about different matters in fiction and non-fiction, especially when it comes to the unknown. I really look forward to reading them. :-)

Sarah Elizabeth Thanks Ken ☺
