A lovely but sad book. I felt for all these characters (though not Grace's mother. But she was a woman of her times, or maybe of all times.)

I do wonder, though, what we, as readers, would have thought if the pregnancy was less abhorrent. If the femal

I would have given this 4 stars until the end.

I was not expecting this to end on a "cliffhanger" that will have to be solved in a next book. I'm tired of series. Write me a story that has some sort of resolution that I can ruminate on.

Reading the two-star reviews on Project Hail Mary, I agree with many of them: white man learns new language in a day and saves universe in a jokey manner, but I have to say those criticisms didn't bother me. Yes, there was quite a bit of disbelief yo ...more

As an Austen lover, I'm a sucker for an adaptation, a parody, a side-story in books, tv and movies.

This one wasn't my favorite. It got pretty laughable at times: "taut biceps lurk under his jacket like stones just beneath the surface in a shallow pon

I didn't have an issue with the dad at all. It seemed entirely realistic to me--except for being able to sneak out at night and the kids not knowing about it (and leaving the mom "alone.")

I didn't know who Rhysand is and missed a lot of the trope rea

When I finish a book, I generally read the 2-3 star reviews on Goodreads to see what others disliked about the book and whether I had the same thoughts.

I never quite got into the characters who seemed often interchangeable. (Lawrence, Gerald, Freddy, Ruth, Laura) Who were these people?

I never quite believed in Hayden, but at least I knew who he was.

I must have misread the original review I read. I expected some sort of cozy mystery/parody of Little Women, but there wasn't much "cozy" about it.

Bernet really went with "every character is a suspect" which got to be a bit old.

I think the author had

I loved this book. I think it came to me at the perfect time.

I loved his depiction of the kids. Asher was a great character.

The ending was a shock, I have to admit. I did not expect that, but I see how it happened.
