Ward Jenkins's Blog: Ward's Book-O-Matic

So, to gather some interest for the new picture book I illustrated, Chicks Run Wild, I started up a Facebook page for it. For a while, everything was okay. I had a few "fans" or "friends", however you'd like to call them. Mostly, these people were actual friends of mine. But the closer the book came out, I realized that nothing was happening - we were hovering around 50 friends. I realized that I needed to get some "chicken drama" started (to quote from the book, of course). So, I posed a challenge to all out there: if we can get 300 friends for Chicks Run Wild here on Facebook before January 25th, (the date the book was being released, which, at the time, was two weeks away), I'll wear a chicken suit out in public. With proof.

It was on.

Within a WEEK we hit the magical number of 300. And then some!

The chicken suit will be happening soon. Been very busy lately with other illustration and animation projects, but soon, I'll be donning the famed fowl attire and prance my feathers in downtown Portland, Oregon.
