Thanks a lot!
It was exciting to release the book into the international market – would much of the meaning be lost in translation, and were there cultural barriers to understanding what is conveyed between the lines? My professional British editor and proofreader assured me that the book elicited the same reactions from him as it did from my Norwegian readers, as did a couple of British friends who volunteered as test readers.
Nonetheless, it was somewhat daunting to send Una, with her struggles and growth, Kalle and his secrets, and the narcissist Tor with his extreme need for recognition and power, out into the world. When I ventured into the international market, it was with an open mind and low expectations, and I remain prepared for some to assess the novel quite differently than my enthusiastic Norwegian readers have so far. However, the strong start has made me resilient to whatever may come, and I am simply overjoyed to be read!
