Easy, cowboy.

I grip his hand, keeping him from tilting my head to expose my neck.

Knowing what he wants, I’m not about to give it to him. Like most men—possibly all—he needs to learn some manners, self-control, and think of others besides himself.

I’m up to the task, liking what I’ve experienced with him so far.

I press my lips to his. They’re softer than I guessed. Warmer, too, considering he’s a vamp. And his scent… Wow. Something fresh, clean, and aquatic. Partly cologne. Mainly him.

Excitement bubbles up. I don’t deny it.

I can live with that. To be honest, I crave it.

Deep down, I must be a hopeless romantic.

I can conjure any material thing I want, which leaves nothing to strive for. Especially the important stuff…like love. Without breaking a sweat, I can put a spell on a man to adore me, but his devotion won’t be real. I can concoct a potion to fill me with whatever knowledge I want then get a high-powered job I don’t deserve.

Magic isn’t awesome. It’s a fucking curse.
