3.5 stars This isn’t my favorite of Benedict’s books but it was engaging. Set in the 1930’s, a group of female detective writers, including Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayer, set out to solve a real-world mystery. Quick, entertaining read.

I love this book so much. The author has some other books, “The Body Image Book for Girls” and “The Body Image Book for Boys”. This is a body image book for adults. (That’s actually my only complaint; if you don’t know about her other books, you migh ...more

"I devoured this book! Writing style just sucked me right in and the book is intelligent, clever and she winds the story just right, in my opinion! I usually struggle to like a book where I detest the main character and boy oh boy did I hate Natalie H" Read more of this review »

One of those books that just leaves you feeling super sad. About a college love story that didn’t work out and how that reverberates through the rest of their lives. Great writing from King, as usual.

I expected to like this more than I did - I mean romance plus magic? I found it a tad bit tedious though, for whatever reason but sometimes I feel that way about romances in general. Anyway, quick, cute read.

“It barges in like an uninvited third party who fundamentally alters the partnership, reshaping dynamics in ways neither person is prepared to navigate.”
Lisa Gray, Thriving in a Relationship When You Have Chronic Illness: Navigate Challenges and Keep Your Relationship Strong Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

“Tonight’s December thirty-first,
Something is about to burst.
The clock is crouching, dark and small,
Like a time bomb in the hall.
Hark, it's midnight, children dear.
Duck! Here comes another year!”
Ogden Nash, Collected Verse from 1929 On

“For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”
Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia

“Our destiny is to join a tremendously creative team effort, under unimaginably splendid leadership, on an inconceivably vast plane of activity, with ever more comprehensive cycles of productivity and enjoyment.”
Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God

“The most important aspects of our lives cannot be rushed. We cannot love, think, eat, laugh, or pray in a hurry...When we are in a hurry--which comes from overextension--we find ourselves unable to live with awareness and kindness.”
James Bryan Smith, The Good and Beautiful God: Falling in Love with the God Jesus Knows

“I’ve read that one out of twenty-four people is a sociopath, and if you ask me, the other twenty-three of you should be worried.”
