March 2017

Vina and I haven’t heard back from the publisher about our first contemporary, Long, Tall Cowboy. We should hear from the company within the next few weeks. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

I finished a new contemporary – A Rumored Affair. Not sure if I’ll self-publish this one or send it to a publisher. So happy to finally be finished with this one.

Jim and I finished another major house project – a new fence. Ordered new windows today. Phew. We should be finished for a while. Although I have to create the courtyard garden. I know next to nothing about plants!

Update

VLChristmascard

Vina and I have finished our first contemporary, Long, Tall Cowboy. I submitted the ms for consideration to a publishing house today.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Garrett and Matt will have their story told.

Jim and I settled into our new home. We love living in California again. The weather is brisk, the leaves have turned. I’m drinking a hot mocha by the fire and lazily watching the rain. Life is good.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Life Changes

Anime girlI haven’t been online in the last few months because my husband and I took the plunge and moved back to California! It’s been a whirlwind few months as we traveled most of the summer while buying a house and selling a house in between vacations. This craziness meant I haven’t been writing much. The house we moved into was built in 1949 and while it’s charming, it has some major repair issues. Mostly cosmetic but that means picking out paint colors, shade colors, buying appliances and having to make a million and one decisions.

Vina and I have finished Long, Tall, Cowboy and hope to submit it by the end of October. Meanwhile I do have another book finished and ready to submit and Vina and I started a sequel to our Orbus Arcana series. Nothing serious will happen until the following month but I’m hoping to get back into the groove by the end of the year!

Welcome! Hopping for Gay and Lesbian Visibility, Awareness and Equality

SameSexRaindrop

Thank you for visiting my page today. May 17  is an International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. A perfect day to kick off the hop.

I used to think tolerance was needed to change people’s attitudes towards the LGBTQ community. After all, the LGBTQ community has more visibility then ever. In television, movies, even computer games. Same-sex marriage is now federally mandated. Even with the strides the community has made over the years, there is still a ways to go before gay people (and I use this term in the broadest sense) are accepted into mainstream society. Tolerated, yes, but the fight for acceptance is still ongoing.

The definition of tolerance according to the dictionary is the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with. Okay. Sounds about right. For example: Someone might say: I tolerate my neighbor even though he’s gay. I might not like the fact he sleeps with men, but I won’t beat him up. Or bully him. But he shouldn’t have the same rights as me. I’m normal. Not him.

To me, that’s tolerance.

This should be good enough. Right?

No.

What the world needs is more acceptance. The action of accepting someone as having equal rights even if they don’t follow their chosen path in life. To disenfranchise a segment of the population because they choose to love the same sex or believe they were born with the wrong gender, or any number of reasons, is horribly wrong.

I love living in a diverse world. How boring if we all were the same.

Love is love. Who you want to love is your business, not mine.

John Lennon said it best: Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun. (He left no one out).

So do you think tolerance is an okay word to use when talking about equality, or do you prefer acceptance or some other term? Leave a comment for a chance to win one of my ebooks of your choice. You can see all my books listed here

Still Here

Moms Memorial Pic

I haven’t been too active online for a few weeks. I ushered in the New Year sick with colds and flu which slowed me down. My writing partner also had her share of medical issues! My husband also retired so we are learning to live together 24/7 now – and while I’m really enjoying having my hubby full time it’s been an adjustment when it comes to my writing!

Then my mom passed away and so I’ve been in California with my sisters taking care of mom’s affairs. She was 93 and now she’s at peace and I hope cavorting with her family and friends! My mom was a good person. Kind. Generous. And I always felt loved. She will be missed. This picture is when she was in her early forties – and how I want to remember her now.

So I wanted to at least post and let you know I’m still here, still writing, and hope to have some books out this year. Cheers. Viki

New Release Sexy Short On Sale!

VL_LoversTrill_AMagicalChristmas_coverlg

NEW RELEASE: Lover’s Trill: A Magical Christmas is now available from Loose Id and ON SALE, too! A sexy short featuring Leo and Andre.

One year after reuniting with Andre, Leo is ready to take the next step in their relationship. Leo is tired of catching only fleeting moments with his lover. Between their exhausting concert tours, they hardly share more than a few days together.

It’s Christmas, and Leo has a week with Andre without distractions. Excited to be with his lover, he arrives at Andre’s lakeshore home earlier than scheduled only to find camera crews, catering vans, and worse, Andre’s ex-lover in Andre’s bedroom. Leo’s hopes are dashed at spending a quiet, magical time with Andre. He’s not even sure if he wants to be in a relationship, let alone put Leo before his career.

On sale at Loose Id through Wednesday: http://www.loose-id.com/lover-s-trill-a-magical-christmas.html
