Tim Nijsmans is a Belgian financial adviser, author and lecturer. He is the founder of financial consultancy Vermogensgids and a lecturer in private banking at Arteveldehogeschool in Ghent. He previously worked in private banking and investment management, including more than a decade at Dierickx Leys Private Bank.[1]

Nijsmans is co-author of the book De Hangmatbelegger, written with Yoran Brondsema. The book focuses on long-term and relatively passive approaches to investing. According to published accounts, the book sold more than 40,000 copies. In 2024, "hangmatbeleggen", a term associated with the book's investment approach, was selected as the Flemish Word of the Year by Van Dale.
