New Book Review - The Fairy Tale Magazine

Follow the link below to read the latest review on Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers written by contributor Kelly Jarvis in The Fairy Tale Magazine!

https://www.fairytalemagazine.com/pos...

In her thoughtful collection of stories dedicated to her own stepmother and to “all stepmothers who raise their families with love and fortitude,” Georgina Warren transforms dangerous tropes about blended families by replacing then with endearing tales of fully-realized women who heroically raise children not born of their bodies. Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers features twelve enticing tales that entertain readers while educating them about identity, family, love, and the roles we choose to play.

To all my dedicated fantasy readers!

It is now 2026, a new year of reading! While I am writing the next volume of virtuous stepmothers, there are some ways to support my first book and share with more readers.

If you have read Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers, please consider the following options to support my book.

Submit reviews here on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Fable or the Storygraph if you have an account. Add relevant key words to describe your experience with the book. Adventure, fantasy, short stories, magic, family, children.

In Goodreads, you can vote this title on any of these reading lists of books for middle grade fantasy, short stories, original fairy tales, best fantasy/fiction for girls, empowering women in fiction and stories for kids and families.

Sign and share this petition and tell Disney to make more movies with good stepmothers. Maybe they will be inspired to choose my stories for upcoming animated features.

You can also join my group B3F! to connect with other readers and authors looking for better books that support authentic narratives on blended families. We are accepting new moderators to lead book reading prompts in this virtual group.

Otherwise, request this title at your local library and share with your friends if they enjoy new fairy tales. Let's end the myth of the wicked stepmother once and for all!

Author's Choice - Life Changes in Picture Books

When I created Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers, I wanted to give stepmothers and their children a collection of fairy tales to entertain and inspire them. With this book I hoped to ease children's fears about getting another parent and to show that stepmoms don't need to feel awkward in this role. Lately I have explored other picture books with themes about difficult life changes that I thought you might like as well. Some children get a new stepparent after the loss of a bio parent from a separation or death. Here are some of my author's choices:

GRIEF/LOSS
I Can't Believe They're Gone: A kid's grief book that hugs, helps, and gives hope
Luna's Red Hat: An Illustrated Storybook to Help Children Cope With Loss and Suicide
Death Is Stupid
Grandpa's Scroll
Love The Unbreakable Bond: Answered questions about death for children
My Freedom Trip by Park, Frances and Ginger Boyds Mills Press,2010

DIVORCE
Stuck in the Middle: A Story About Separation
Mum and Dad Glue
I Have Two Homes
Here and There
Jane Smith aka Thistle Fabuloso: An Up Story About Being Down
Monday, Wednesday, and Every Other Weekend

Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers - Book Review Prompts

To my dedicated readers, I have a few requests when you submit your reviews on Tales of Virtuous Stepmothers. When you finish the book, I’ve included a list of prompt questions, and you can submit your answers in your review. Choose one prompt from this list and write your response.

1. Share 3 or 4 titles of your favorite stories from my collection.

2. Choose two or three names of your favorite fictional stepmothers from the book and share how they felt inspiring to you.

3. Pick one favorite story and tell me the names of your favorite famous actors you would cast as the characters.

4. If you could choose any of the stories to be made into animated movies or musical plays, which ones do you choose?

5. Any parents sharing the books with their children please submit their words in your reviews so that other readers will know how they felt about the stories.

Thank you for taking the time to read these instructions. I’m excited to hear your perspective on the book. Enjoy!
