Well, That Certainly Took Off…
Friday night, we went out to dinner, and I made SURE that we were home in time to watch Artemis come home. And once she was down and safe, I posted something to my social media. And… it certainly took off.

I’ve never had a post ever that gained the traction this one did. Friends have been tagging me when they see it, so I know how far it’s gone. And I’ve tripped on one person who stole the post and claimed it for their own, which… I suppose that means I’m a real writer? (a real annoyed wr...

And Now… The Back Side of Luna!
I’m writing this up while I watch the Artemis II flyby of the Moon, and I really, REALLY need someone to say “And now… the back side of Luna!” I doubt anyone will (or if they did, I missed it.)
Screenshot from my other monitor.I keep saying I’m tired of living in unprecedented times, but for this unprecedented time? I’ll take it. The last time we went to the Moon, I was eight months old.
And I just found out about the message that Jim Lovell (Commander of Apollo 13) recorded before he...

Fun. Weird. Slightly Random. That’s Me.
I was writing up the description for my appearance on SFF News and Interviews this Thursday, and described it as fun, weird and slightly random. Which, I realize now, is me in a nutshell.
Not that I mind. It makes things more interesting and far more entertaining. For me, anyway.
Last week was a lot of catching up, although not nearly as much as I’d have liked. Some interesting bits in an “I could have done without this!” sort of way (No, I do not WANT to have to put a new roof on the ho...

I Am Not To Be Trusted With a Bubble Shooter
I got home from ICFA yesterday, and promptly fell over. The afterparty was amazing, there was unfiltered sake, and I learned a thing — I am not to be trusted with a bubble shooter.
I have NO idea who handed this to me — it was dark on the pool deck, for all that everyone was wearing glowy flower crowns. But I reverted to the relative age of five, and there was much giggling and many, MANY bubbles.
It was a good conference. And not just because of the bubbles. I got some amazing news on Wed...

Caffeine Levels Insufficient
My brain, right now: “Event complete. Commence prep for ICFA. Warning. Caffeine levels insufficient.”
We just finished our weekend Renaissance Faire at the Oviedo Mall, and now I have two days to do everything that needs to be done in order to pack for ICFA, then a morning to actually PACK and get on the road. Now, it’s not far from my house to ICFA, so getting there isn’t a problem. My problem is getting ready so I can leave to get there.
I did my show wrap up, and ordered things I’m low ...

Do NOT Pinch Me!
It hasn’t been a week yet, and I swear that I’m still dreaming. If I am, do NOT pinch me!
Let me explain. The 11th annual Self-Published Fantasy Blog Off has started. This is my third time entering SPFBO, and I honestly had no expectations other than possibly getting some new reviews. I entered Written in Water three years ago, and Counsel of the Wicked two years ago. This year, I entered The Sea Prince.
The blog that was assigned The Sea Prince has one of the strictest judging criteria i...

Busy Rabbit…
I was originally thinking of having the title of this post be “Rabbit Rabbit,” because it’s the first post of the month. Then I was thinking of having it be “Busy, Busy,” because I AM. So I compromised and now it’s Busy Rabbit. Which honestly sounds like a cereal commercial — “Busy rabbit! Naps are for kids!”
Naps, by the way, are wasted on the young.
March is going to be one of those “Why did I schedule two things back to back?” months. I have the first of the 2026 Oviedo Mall Renn Faires...

Happy Book Day Eve!
Happy Book Day Eve to those who celebrate. I certainly do! Tomorrow is release day for The Coral Throne, which brings to a close a story that is old enough to drive in the state of Florida.
I’ve told this story before — in 2009, I woke up with this character in my head. His name was Tarjiaan, and he would not shut up. In the 45 minute drive to Ikea, I had most of the worldbuilding, and I actually ditched my family for about half an hour once we got there to go sit in the restaurant with a cup...

That Wore Off Quickly.
Today is that one day of the year when I can’t see for most of a day. Yes, it’s time for my annual retinal exam, when I get dilated enough to see through the veil and wave to the Fae. Fun times. Usually, I take a nap after and sleep it off. Today, though? I could see much sooner than I expected. So that wore off quickly.
This is a good thing — it let me get back to work sooner than I would normally. I had a lot to do today. Since my author proof of The Coral Throne hasn’t come in yet, I had...

Beating My Head Against Code
This weekend, there was time spent beating my head against code. This is otherwise known as updating my website. There was a WordPress plugin that I used on my book pages that had a major security flaw. The creators of that plugin appear to have abandoned it, so I needed to update my plugins and pull all my books over to the new database, then get the database to display the published works and the series pages.
Beating my head against code.
I will admit that once I got the hang of it, th...
