Orlando Barone nació en el barrio de La Boca. Es escritor, periodista, y tiene una trayectoria de más de cincuenta años en los medios. En 1987 obtuvo el premio literario La Nación en el género ficción; en 1991 fue finalista del Premio Plaza y Janés, en España, con la novela La locomotora de fuego. En 1972, su libro Debajo del ombligo ganó el premio Fondo Nacional de las Artes para autores inéditos.

Es autor y responsable de Diálogos Borges-Sabato (Emecé, 1976), el libro que registra el encuentro entre las dos grandes figuras de la literatura argentina.
