With a ton of perseverance and a lot of WordPress programming knowledge you can do anything in WordPress: even build the world’s first WordPress based video game engine.

Introducing OGE (Orbem Game Engine)

Ex Disney, Warner Bros. and Universal WordPress programmer Scott V. Adrian has taken on the challenge of developing the world’s first WordPress based game engine that allows users to create complex RPG video games RIGHT in to their WordPress website.

The OGE utilizes WordPress for managing all the game assets, and play data with an intuitive front end game building experience. With it you can build levels, insert NPCs that can wander and talk, make cutscenes for exposition and transitions between levels, add collectables, breakables, draggables and even enemies to fight plus a TON more.

Where can I find the WordPress game engine OGE?

You can’t! Not yet at least. At the time of writing this post, Scott V. Adrian, or @OrbemOrder as he’s known on youtube and twitch, is currently in the tail ends of development of the OGE plugin so unfortunately you can’t start building games on WordPress with it just yet.

As well as developing the world’s first WordPress game engine, he is also developing OGE’s first game with it.

ESCAPE TO ORBEM

The work in progress game is based on Scott V. Adrian’s SciFi Fantasy novel series “The Homonian Chronicles” and will follow the story of the series in a pixel art style RPG that utilizes all that the OGE has to offer including minigames, boss fights and puzzle solving as you play with 4 characters that all have special abilities.

Scott V. Adrian has been building the “Orbem” universe for half a decade now. As he has been forced not to write the continuation of his novel series “The Homonian Chronicles” due to editing phases and or promotional release schedules, he has put time into creating content and other media related to the Orbem world and it’s characters.

Orbem Explore

One outlet for Scott V. Adrian’s time has been developing a simple pixel art style video game embedded directly into his website https://OrbemOrder.com called “Orbem Explore”.

This video game was originally developed as an accompanying game after you read the novel “Orbem”. It gives you a little extra dialogue from four of the main characters in Orbem as they interact with various landmarks and other characters on the Orbem map.

The Future: Orbem Explore 2.0

Scott V. Adrian has been inspired to spend his spare time to further develop “Orbem Explore”. His vision is to not have the game just be a way for people to continue their Orbem experience after reading the book, but instead become a standalone video game that people might find first and choose to read the book afterwards.

What to expect from the new game?

Orbem Explore will become a full sized 2D Pixel Art RPG following the story of “Orbem”. You will play as Dr. Graeme Milford as he is forced to run to another universe to escape death at the hands of his dangerous CEO.

You’ll be able to use teleportation, weapons and magic as you navigate the different maps and engage dangerous security bots, wild animals in Blackclaw Forest, Elves, and more!

There will be mini games and boss battles you’ll need to conquer as you progress and gain experience, gear, weapons and spells. Leveling up will make your journey easier as things get harder.

The best part? The game will also progress over time! Since it is integrated into OrbemOrder.com, we’ll be able to add updates and new levels as the book series continues.

Even with all the hard work going into the novel “Orbem” release, The Orbem Order managed to put out a brand new single named “Froshile” after the brash fish-man caught in the pool under the waterfall of th Highlands.

Froshile was minding his own business when Graeme transported all the water from the natural spring fed pool to disperse an attacking pixie hoard. All of the lyrics in this alt rock banger are inspired by Froshile’s journey with the terrestrial group.

In his debut entry, Scott V. Adrian got third place in the coveted Sci-Fi – Humorous category. The results were announced during The Book Fest award ceremonies Oct 21-22.
