Louise The BIG Cheese & the La-di-da Shoes
Did your mother ever force you to wear ugly brown shoes, with laces and rubber soles that squeaked when you walked? You know the kind....."practical shoes". Worse still, did your best friend show up the next day with the very shoes you coveted?
This book was right on the mark for me....I had to wear horrid Buster Brown shoes with thick laces...and white anklets to boot. No la-di-da shoes for this girl! The only redeeming factor was that the soles were so thick and strong they were GREAT for roller skating, the clamps held on beautifully! But I too saw a pair of la-di-da shoes that I longed for and they were black patent leather with sparkly toes....some coincidence! I had no trouble illustrating this one, it was very close to my heart.

Louise The BIG Cheese, Divine Diva
Louise's debut is fast approaching....Sept. 8th. Will her dream of starring as Cinderella in Mrs. Little's class play be realized? Will there be a big Broadway director in the audience, who will recognize her talents and make her the Divine Diva she always wanted to be? Or.....will something go awry? Might her mousy best friend, Fern, get the part? Might Louise be relegated to the role of gray mouse and see her hopes dashed, or will she rise to the occasion and prove what true friendship can do?
The book was written by my friend, Elise Primavera. She's a brilliant illustrator in her own right, it's the first time anyone has illustrated any of her books. Did it put true friendship to the test? Here's the answer...we're still friends!
