I have been working on a list of books on John Newton and his friends. This is part of working on my own forthcoming books on this fascinating period of UK church history which has impacted the world.

Abolition first of the slave trade then slavery itself, the development of many hymns including two of the very best, Amazing Grace and God Moves in A Mysterious Way, deeper more psychologically aware pastoral care, and the evangelical movement itself were all the outcome of the work of God in and through John Newton, and the two Williams: Cowper (said Cooper) and Wilberforce, as well as many others including freed slaves such as Olaudah Equiano.
