Triggers
I received a message about my book today. I'm going to keep everything anonymous. I feel like this might be important to other potential readers. I don't want to trigger your emotions into putting you in a bad place.
Reader: "Congrats on your book! Read the description of it and after having my boyfriend pass a few years ago, I wasn't sure if it would be hard for me to read. Does it dwell much on the loss? Is it going to be a tear jerker if I read it?"
My response: "The first 3 chapters may be tough on you. But the focus of the remainder of the book is her fighting her way back to living a normal life. Rhae doesn't process emotions like normal people do. Mainly because in the depths of her sorrow she learns about an affair hubby was having on the side and her sorrow grows into anger."
I never want you to dwell on the negative. The emotions and situations described are there to move the character and story into a better place. If you are willing to suffer through the beginning, I promise you'll get a great reward.
