Every so often, you get a second chance. The subway doors re-open. Or you re-meet that person you haven’t been able to forget. Or the truth finally comes out, two decades after you’ve been banished from ice skating.

But can a book get a second chance?

Back when I started writing The Deadfall Project, George W. Bush was president, the “war on terror” was freshly underway, and American troops were invading the Middle East. But by the time the book was released, Obama was in office and the international scene had calmed down considerably. My poor book was already obsolete.

Now it’s ten years later, and the wheel has again turned. We have a firebrand in the white house, an endless war in Syria, and Russia is back to its Soviet-era machinations. In short, the world is a looking a lot like it did when I first put pen to paper.

Of course, the world doesn’t look exactly the same, which is why I did this:

Taking a page from my own book.

Yeah, I did that to the whole freakin’ book. Two and a half pens’ worth of blood red ink. And now you yourself can see the results.
