Marc W. Pollina is a writer, runner, and entrepreneur. He has completed 28 marathons, including 20 Boston Marathons as a bandit, a charity runner, and a sub-3 qualifier.

The Boston Marathon isn't just a road race. If it were, we'd do what we usually do after medals have been placed around our salt-stained necks: go home, heal, and move on to the next races on our calendars.
