From science to magic to learning that not everyone has it as nice as he does, Duncan is one of the more complicated characters I’ve written. On February 3rd, book 1 of the Noble’s Luck trilogy, Lady launched. So far people like it and I’m excited for everyone to get to see what is coming up on Feb 17th, which is Lord. If you have it what did you like? Comments thoughts? I know that I’m writing like crazy, but never fast enough to make me happy.

But as soon as I get that series all pushed out, I’ll have more news to share.

One of the hardest things to do as publisher or indie writer is find new fans. This a layer problem that most of us don’t want to talk about. Part of it is trying to find the reader as going door ot door isn’t realistic. So that means social media and adds. But one of the most profitable apps might be blocked, so that leaves us scrambling again to figure out how to find people. The other issue is story. One of the few advantages of traditional publishing is most of what they publish is going to be mainstream, meaning it has all the ‘expected’ story lines. Which is all good, but sometimes the stories we want to write don’t end on a happy note or the bad guy had his reasons or we just want to write about something that is different because the author is seeking that story. So again we have to find people that want to read something like this.

What am I trying to say? That there are so many options out there and so many stories. Support your authors and we can keep writing but come to our platforms like our newsletter so we can continue to stay in touch and tell you about the weird places our minds take us.

2025 has arrived and I am determined to make this my year to ROCK!

My word for the year is Eudaimonia. Which while it has a few interpretations given its usage, here is mine: To live happy, flourishing, and in alignment with my purpose.  Eudaimonia.

So my big goals:

They are relatively big goals, especially as I want to write 7 books as part of that. For the publishing part 3 are already written, but I have a lot more to go this year. So stick around if you want to see things explode. In a good way.

I know you have been waiting and I feel like these have taken FOREVER! But the rough draft of two of the three books are done which means they are headed to beta readers soon. Then I’ll try to finish up the final book and get a kickstarter going. It feel slike the pile of two stuff is never going to end, but there will be books soonish.

Other than that I have Deep South Con in the gorgeous Helen Georgia and that will be my last convention (unless I get invited to speak) until Dragoncon 2025, so find me there!

I’m heading back to editing and getting the newsletter ready, so here is our new kitten Gizmo!  Enjoy!

I know, I know, I am the worst at doing this, but I have a new system that might work where I do my blogs. So… I’m writing, like a LOT. Hopefully there will be new books, maybe if you are very luck and I am VERY focused by Christmas. The first three are a trilogy called Noble’s Luck and they make all the other twists and turns of my books seem easy. I’ve had to figure out the endings of these books about 4 times for EACH BOOK and I’m still not sure how one of them is going to end. Needless to say from where I started with my idea and rough plot, we are MILES, maybe light years from there.  But I hope you love them.

Other than that, I’m focusing on writing all I can and I thank you so much for your patience. I swear I wish I could write as fast as I can read.

I’ve talked a lot about grief and that you don’t compare it or that grief doesn’t always come from death, sometimes it is from things ending or being lost: a marriage, bankruptcy, being fired. You grieve over those things also. But I wasn’t expecting the depression that slammed into me as I finished up the details of Balanced Luck and closed out that series. I’d been trying to figure out why I was having such a hard time and was so unmotivated.

I am grieving. I mean I didn’t kill everyone (I promise), but the story of Cori was done and I’m going to miss them.

I’m trying to fall into my epic fantasy and keep my attention forward, but Carelian is going to be missed.

A lot has been going on at BAP.  There is the next book in the Twisted Luck series by Mel Todd coming out May 26th and then a stand alone in the Dual Casters world called PuppetMaster also by Mel Todd. We are working on getting our shop up and running effectively so not only can you buy merchandise, you will be able to get signed books from any of our authors. BAP will be at DRagoncon in force this year, but that means getting more books written so we have more to sell.

If you follow my newsletters (and really you should be, I share stories) you know that I became a full time author at the beginning of this year.

Already I can see the benefits and stresses over it. Technically I’m sick today, and I gave myself a sick day, yet I’m sitting here writing. Oh well, it is still better than my previous job even if my current boss is really a harsh taskmaster.

I can’t wait to finish all the foundational stuff so I can dive in and get stories coming out. I’ll be full bore back into Unbalanced Luck next week and I can’t wait – even through I’m not sure where the plot it going. Cori makes my life overly difficult sometimes.

Other than that all I can say is I’m excited to see what 2023 is going to bring.
