Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a few years spent in other cities here and there. Lives in Montreal with her husband, three teenagers and an agoraphobic cat.
She started writing fiction while doing a master's in political science -- she kept wanting the people in her papers to do other things than what they had done in real life. Once graduated, however, she started bringing characters to life.

She has all kinds of great suggestions for dealing with it and getting you back on track. A lot of her ideas get you out of your comfort zone (like a weekly artist's date). I like to do different things, leave my usual surroundings and neighbourhood and go explore somewhere I don't usually go. Getting a different perspective on things can help you form new ideas for stories.
I volunteer for different events around the city and get behind the scenes look at operations. (less)

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has free entry to its permanent collection this week, so a friend and fellow writer set off for a visit. I love going to the museum for inspiration and a bit of calm reflection, especially during the holidays. You chat about life and look at beautiful paintings and sculptures,

Julia Cameron
“Most of us are not raised to actively encounter our destiny. We may not know that we have one. As children, we are seldom told we have a place in life that is uniquely ours alone. Instead, we are encouraged to believe that our life should somehow fulfill the expectations of others, that we will (or should) find our satisfactions as they have found theirs. Rather than being taugh to ask ourselves who we are, we are schooled to ask others. We are, in effect, trained to listen to others' versions of ourselves. We are brought up in our life as told to us by someone else! When we survey our lives, seeking to fulfill our creativity, we often see we had a dream that went glimmering because we believed, and those around us believed, that the dream was beyond our reach. Many of us would have been, or at least might have been, done, tried something, if...
If we had known who we really were.”
