I saw the movie a while ago and I had completely forgotten the ending, which made the reading more interesting. The plot was alright, but I felt it a bit long. I couldn't get sucked into the story.

This was my second read of the novel and it is still a great classic that brings so many reflexions on disabilities and so many emotions. Simply a must read.

I read this book for a book club and I'm glad I got to try a different genre from what I'm used to, but it wasn't for me.

The overall story was alright, but I couldn't get passed the writing. This book was the complete opposite of "show, don't tell"

Hanya Yanagihara
“He was worried because to be alive was to worry. Life was scary; it was unknowable. [...]. Life would happen to him, and he would have to answer to it, just like the rest of them. They all [...] sought comfort, something that was theirs alone, of the world, of the relentlessness of its minutes, its hours, its days.”
Hanya Yanagihara, A Little Life

Donna Tartt
“Beauty is terror. Whatever we call beautiful, we quiver before it. [...] We want to be devoured by it, to hide ourselves in that fire which refines us.”
Donna Tartt, The Secret History

Elyn R. Saks
“If you are a person with mental illness, the challenge is to find the life that's right for you. But in truth, isn't that the challenge for all of us, mentally ill or not?”
Elyn R. Saks, The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness

Claire Legendre
Claire Legendre, Ce désir me point
