"Alive until sunrise." This beautiful memoir was suggested to me a few weeks ago by a smart bookseller at Flying Books on College Street. It's not often that I find memoir and social commentary so gripping that I can't put it down. Wise, in-depth, and ...more |

“I have spent a good many years since―too many, I think―being ashamed about what I write. I think I was forty before I realized that almost every writer of fiction or poetry who has ever published a line has been accused by someone of wasting his or her God-given talent. If you write (or paint or dance or sculpt or sing, I suppose), someone will try to make you feel lousy about it, that's all.”

Hi Philippa,Hope all is well in your world. I haven't fallen off the face of the earth; just left the social network. (It's been a year and a half already.) It wasn't a a healthy fit for me. New book coming out next spring. In the meantime, I'm honing my painting skills. Who knows? Perhaps I can become an illustrator.
