THE NEXT BIG THING
I was tagged for this event by Charlene Raddon.
I'm tagging J.D. Wylde, Jamie Denton, Linda Ciletti, Tara Manderino and Celia Yeary. They'll find 5 authors and so on and so on...
THE NEXT BIG THING...WE CAN ONLY HOPE!
What is the working title of your book?
Into the Land of Shadows
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I can't quite remember since I wrote an early draft years ago, but the heroine is based on my feisty older daughter Kate who was probably about 7 years old at the time.
What genre does your book fall under?
Historical Western Romance
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
That's tough because I don't usually envision actors when I'm writing.
...Thinking...
Can't come up with a good match, sorry.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Rancher Ethan Barstow is weary of the years-long estrangement from his brother Charley. Deciding to track him down is easy; riding in the company of Kate Kinsella, Charley's fiancee, proves to be anything but.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
It will, hopefully, be epublished with an online publisher.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I wrote an early draft many years ago. This year I pulled it out and began reworking it, so the total time for the first draft has probably been 2 years (plus 8)!
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
It's a typical Old West romance with a handsome hero and a spunky heroine.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
The song I liked at the time that helped with the initial creation of the hero and heroine's relationship was "I Drove All Night" by Celine Dion.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
There's a wolf named Bart who shadows Ethan and an elder Navajo named Joe Leaphorn who may or may not be of this world.

20 Facts About Teenagers
I currently live in a household with 4 teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 19, both boys and girls. This doesn’t make me an expert. It does mean I’ve done bloody verbal battle over the most vexing subjects, such as why they must pay their own cell phone bill, or why they no longer like anything I make for dinner, or how I know nothing about dress codes. I love being told in a snide voice that of course they can wear super-short, strappy sundresses to school. So-and-so does it all the time. Gawd!
But here are a few things I do know, at least during the summer months.
Teenagers...
1. Will claim they aren’t lazy; they’re simply satisfied with the world around them. “My dirty room doesn’t bother me.”
2. Will rationalize not getting a job by admitting they just don’t have time. Waking up at noon really eats up the hours.
3. Believe electricity is free and should therefore be used 24 hours a day.

A Brand New Historical Western Romance!!
I'm happy to share my new release, now available in print and digital. Into The Land Of Shadows is a historical western romance with a brooding hero and a spunky heroine.
Ethan Barstow has come to Arizona Territory to search for his younger brother, Charley. It’s been five years since a woman came between them and it’s high time they buried the hatchet. He soon learns that his brother has broken more than one heart in town, has mysteriously and abruptly disappeared, and that an indignant fiancée is hot on his trail.
Kate Kinsella pursues Charley Barstow when he skips out of town without a second thought. Not only has he left Agnes McPherson alone and pregnant, but everyone still believes that he and Kate are engaged, a sham from the beginning. An ill-timed encounter with a group of ruffians has her suddenly in the company of Ethan Barstow, Charley’s brother and a man of questionable repute. As they move deeper into the shadows of the Arizona desert, family tensions and past tragedies threaten to destroy a relationship neither of them expects.
