My mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia in her twenties and spent eighteen years in and out of mental hospitals. When well, she chose gratefulness over bitterness and had an amazing ability to see the good in all people. Her faith in God was not shaken by the struggles of life. My father demonstrated unconditional love. He loved sacrificially and with a commitment that would not be broken, even when weary from the fight. I felt their story of hope, struggle, and determination was a truth worth telling. (less)
Toni Teepell Sadie, sorry it has taken me so long to answer your question. There are a few themes, but one is unconditional love.

“You see Maggie, I realized the importance of our responses to the unanswered prayers. I had a choice to either grow bitter and turn away from God, or walk closer allowing his grace to guide each step. I don't know why some things happen the way they do, but I am sure of this: God is loving, and knows what he's doing. ”
Toni Teepell, A Truth Worth Tellin'

“Mamma says God uses the bad times to build strength. Wonder how strong a person needs to be before things get easier.”
toni teepell, A Truth Worth Tellin'

“Daddy says every person on earth is born iwth a device that lets them know right from wrong. Some call it their conscience, others say it's their inner voice; he calls his a gift from God. I don't know what to call mine, but I do know it lives in my belly.”

Toni Teepell Hi Kelly,
I noticed you like Anita Shreve. I'm reading Testimony now. My favorite of hers is Light on Snow. I also read A Wedding in December and liked that one also.

If you get a chance to read my book, let me know what you think.

Toni

Toni Teepell James,
I've just recently learned about Goodreads. For the past two years if the computer was on, I was working on my book. I'm slowly learning my way around the site, which I agree is amazing.
Have a great day.
Toni

James Rainsford Hi Toni!
Thanks for making me a friend here on 'Goodreads'. Don't you find it amazing, that here am I in Devon, England and you so far away and yet we can connect and learn something of each others work via this site. Good luck with your book.
Kind regards, James.
