Writing The Blues Away

Penning the universe with scripted worlds is a solitary pastime but as I think in 'rhyme', I'm always scribbling bits of verse here and on snatched fragments of air . Delighted by this http://www.stopwar.org.uk/index.php/m...

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland by Saira Viola
I don’t care about war or famine gay rights
race hate or the government regime.
I just want to tweep what I eat
And snap chat dozens of selfies
Force feed me with tabloid gossip
And pork panty ‘news’
Tie me down with sound bytes
Feel good quotes and offers of cheap Jimmy
Choos
Killings murders rapes and gangland robberies
Open an opium den of winner takes all celebrity
With front cover spreads for grubby
Media heads
A wild purple Winter gorging on tinsel lies
Spikes in the doorway and new borns on ice
Teenage dreams relegated to Taylor Swift memes
And suicide
Sleigh me to hell under the choral trumpet of
Christmas bells.

Duke Ellington Blue

Duke Ellington Blue Story of a soldier
The lines on his face were etched with Rum

His eyes drooped down, they were battered folds of red

And veined with the purple fist of poverty

He had a 24 hour vacant look about him said he was OPEN to all offers

Scavenging for that one golden thread of hope that would save him from this

Abattoir of savage gloom
Sometimes he still strummed the notes on his shot gun guitar

His fingers like bloodied bananas fried and charred and out of shape

He was a shadow in his own land , an exile of no worth

His Army Fatigues were clubbed with glory

But his smile was cut with cremated dreams .

Music Review: “London Calling” – The Clash

Posted October 21, 2015
GonzoToday

Joe Strummer was imbued with the soul of a poet, the prophetic vision of a Wiseman, and the knuckle fisted passion of a rock genius. This remains one of the key albums of their creative ladder. Booming social

polemic immersed with storming guitars and the lyrical delicacy of a young Mick Jones.

There are so many different influences contained within the one album from the Reggae inspired: Rudi Can’t fail to the youth rallying: Guns of Brixton. Every single song trumpets a feeling. This album is 24 karat.

Musical Inspiration

Much of my work is inspired by the boom boom boogie of music this year I was fortunate enough to chatt to one of my heroes in punk the great Dave Parsons from legendary Brit band Sham 69
