Craig Candelore is the son of a US senior foreign-service officer. Raised in Europe, he attended French schools for most of his childhood. At sixteen, Craig became an interpreter for the United States at the United Nations convention in Geneva, Switzerland, translating into French, German, and English.

He graduated from the United States Military Academy with a bachelor’s in science and engineering. After serving his active-duty obligation, he entered the Army Reserves, where he achieved the rank of colonel. One of his assignments in the Army Reserve was teaching military history.
