My new novel, entitled Different Ways of Being, is being published by Linkville Press in Klamuth, Oregon. In my story, the protagonist is a young deaf man, born to deaf parents, who attends Gallaudet University in Washington DC, the only university exclusively for the deaf in the world. Through his character, readers are exposed to vital elements of Deaf Culture including American Sign Language and residential schooling.
I have found, as I suspect is also the case with many other authors, that writing the book is the fun part and promoting the book isn't. I have, however, contacted state residential schools for the deaf, national and state associations for the deaf, universities where teacher training programs for the deaf are offered, as well as independent reviewers and bloggers. So far the response has been encouraging, as many have offered to publish reviews in their organization newsletters.
I'll continue to post comments with regard to book promotion as well as my adventures in the "publishing game".
