I Am Large, I Contain Multitudes

Last summer, after encountering someone who seemed utterly perplexed at the possibility of one person having multiple racial identities, I wrote a poem that takes one of my least favorite questions--“What Are You?”--as its title. The poem’s just been published in Union, an anthology out from Blue Thread Communications.

Writing about Gender Violence: Taboos and Appeals

The folks at Blotterature just published a three-part interview with writers from Women Write Resistance: Poets Resist Gender Violence as part of their Blot Lit Reviews. The interview features the anthology's editor, Laura Madeline Wiseman, alongside some of my favorite poets, including Tyler Mills and Sarah Chavez. Check it out to read the many-faceted perspectives from writers in the anthology on what we think about whether writing about gender violence has any taboos and whether it should "appeal to men."
