I have always been drawn to Charlotte Lucas from Pride and Prejudice, who I think is given a rather raw deal in Austen's novel. I had a lot of fun imagining the way she might tackle the problems of her marriage to an unappealing husband, as well as the friends she might make among the other characters from P and P. Austen's characters are so individual and alive that they provide lots of fuel for the imagination.(less)
