Chuck Buckner's Blog: Chuck Buckner's Writer's Blog

First post
Since this is my first blog post here, I’ll keep it short and use it more for an introduction.
My name is Chuck Buckner. I am an artist, a photographer and a writer of poetry, short stories and novels. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. I have been an avid reader as long as I can remember and have always been interested in literature. I think the progression from reader to writer is a natural one. I have found much of the same enjoyment that comes from reading can be attained from writing as well. I enjoy seeing thoughts from my own imagination turn into stories or poetry.
My favorite authors are those who can invite a reader right into a story and make them a part of it, as if they are present as it happens. As soon as someone opens page one, a voice is there beckoning them to join this story. It is not necessarily the voice of a narrator, a character or even the author, although it can be a part of all these or they are a part of it, but the voice of the story itself.
I live in the northeastern corner of Alabama, not that far from the states of Georgia and Tennessee. Much of my life experiences were gathered here in this mountainous area. I love nature, whether it be writing about it or photographing it. Most of my art is created using objects that were once used for some other purpose. Some of my favorite things to work with are rusty tin or other metal, old wood, buttons, broken pieces of costume jewelry or anything else that I can find that has outlived its original usefulness and begs for new life.
I’ve self-published three novels. Two are out of circulation now. The Death of Arkie Baker is available in paperback on Amazon.com.
My latest book, Words and Water is a collection of short stories and poetry written over the past ten or twelve years. It is available in paperback on Amazon and as a digital download on Kindle.
More later
Thanks
Chuck
